Description

We are pleased to announce the conference in honor of Maria Alessandra Mariotti.

Maria Alessandra Mariotti earned her degree in Mathematics from the University of Pisa and completed her Ph.D. in Mathematics Education at Tel Aviv University under the supervision of Efraim Fischbein. After teaching in secondary schools, she worked at the Department of Mathematics of the University of Pisa and then at the Department of Information Engineering and Mathematical Sciences of the University of Siena.

Throughout her career, Maria Alessandra Mariotti has made significant contributions to different areas, such as: the development of geometrical thinking; artefact-mediated teaching and learning processes in mathematics; and argumentation and proof in mathematics. She has held key roles in scientific associations, including serving as Secretary of the European Society for Research in Mathematics Education (ERME) and as President of the Italian Association for Research in Mathematics Education (AIRDM). Additionally, she has always been committed with dedication and generosity to the education of young researchers - also supervising numerous doctoral dissertations - and teachers.

This conference is an opportunity to celebrate her outstanding career and discuss future perspectives in Mathematics Education research. We invite colleagues, students, and all interested individuals to join us for this special event.
