Travel information

The conference is scheduled as a hybrid in-person/virtual conference, that could turn to a full virtual conference in the case of travel limitations in September 2021, so please delay your accommodation and travel reservations until a few weeks before the conference, or prefer refundable reservations.

Conference venue

The conference will take place in the Dipartimento di Matematica e Informatica dell'Università di Perugia, Via Luigi Vanvitelli 1, 06123, Perugia (PG). See the conference location on OpenStreetMap and Google Maps.

How to reach Perugia

The local Umbria International Airport "San Francesco d'Assisi" (PEG) has daily flights to and from London and is connected to the city centre by a shuttle bus (line E007 on pp. 22-29 of the time table).

Other recommended airports are the Rome-Fiumicino International Airport "Leonardo da Vinci" (FCO), the Pisa International Airport "Galileo Galilei" (PSA), and the Florence Airport, Peretola (FLR). Perugia can be reached from the cities where these airports are located by either train or bus. The Italian train service is operated by the Trenitalia. The price of the tickets depends on the route, the class of service, and the type of train. Tickets can be purchased online or at the station and must be validated before boarding the train (the fine for forgetful travellers is €200.00).

FCO. Sulga operates a daily service between the airport and downtown Perugia (time table), with four coaches a day from Monday to Saturday and two on Sundays and holidays. The ticket (€22.00 single, €36.00 return within 30 days) must be purchased on board from the driver. A second class train ticket costs between €20.90 and €38.70,

PSA. Those flying to Pisa can reach Perugia by train. The ticket costs between €20.05 and €29.70. The Pisa Centrale railway station is within walking distance from the airport, and a shuttle service operated by Pisa Mover (€5.00 single, €10.00 return within 30 days) is available.

FLR. From Florence, the recommended journey to Perugia is by train. A ticket from Firenze Santa Maria Novella railway station to Perugia costs between €14.65 and €31.00. From the airport, the station can be reached by Volainbus, a bus service operated by Busitalia Nord (€6.00 single, €10.00 return).

Where to stay

Perugia is a town on a hill, with some very steep roads. Please do not consider only the distance when you reserve a hotel. We recommend accommodation in the city center, to enjoy the beautiful historical center.

A commented list of hotels (special fares will be available by mid-august)

1 star hotel
Casa Monteripido (1.2km of steep walk, quiet place on an Abbey)

2 stars hotels
Hotel San Sebastiano (300m, the nearest to the venue, not the most beautiful)
Hotel Umbria (900m, in the city center)

3 starts hotels
Primavera Mini Hotel (600m)
Hotel Fortuna (1.1km)

4 stars hotels (prices for attendees reserving directly)
Hotel Giò (900m, comfortable but not in the historical center) 73€ single room, 100€ double room with breakfast
Hotel La Rosetta (1.1km, in the city center) 65€ single room, 85€ double room with breakfast

5 stars hotel
Hotel Brufani (1.2km, in the city center)

Where to eat

There are several places to eat in the neighborhood of the conference venue.

For the lunch, you can go to Via Fabretti and try the Italian Cuisine in the "Ristorante Brizi" or "Osteria Fiorucci", with whom we will arrange special fares.
A good and cheap pizza can be found at the "Pizzeria la Casetta", but it is mostly take away.

In the city center there are several good restaurants and pizzerias, we would be glad to make some recommendations on site.
